  • This is the new Toyota Corolla! It’s fair to say previous generations of the Corolla (or Auris, as it used to be called) were known for being good value for money, but relatively dull. However, it seems Toyota is looking to put that reputation to bed with the all-new Corolla! But does the interior and drivability match up to the exciting new exterior style, especially when you consider it costs slightly more than a VW Golf or Ford Focus? Join Mat for his in-depth review to find out!

In Australia the headlights and indicators are on the correct side for rhd(the right side) so the headlight controls match the dash like lhd versions. Does that take the confusion away now.

Japan's making better cars than in the 00s but nothing on the 90s and can't beat their European rivals. I have the new fiesta and it's awesome and can have more tech than this, looks better imo, cheaper, reliable and this cars meant to compete against the focus more so and the new focus looks great and will have more features than the fiesta so I just don't see why anyone would pick the worser car that costs more

  • DTC Jimmy
    DTC Jimmy 16 giorni fa

You'd have to be crazy to buy this car, to spend more than the competitors that are better. It's not bad by any means, Toyota only make a few good cars imo the rest are boring but why would you pick this over a golf, focus etc etc its slow as well

One major problem with this (XSE trim, N. American version I've driven): the driver's side headlight housing(?) casts a shadow into the low beam projection field, obscuring one's nighttime driving view on the driver's side.

I recently drove a 2019 rental corolla se eco for 2days and 400mi trip.. it seems to be alot different than this one.. actually the interior of the eco looked Alot better..this newer one looks ridiculous with odd angles and things jutting out ,no flow or integration whatsoever in the interior..the se eco had the touch screen integrated in the dash, not stuck on top of it....ours had a cvt, and while i hate cvts, it Can mimic an automatic and work well if you taylor
ur driving style to its odd way of working...lead foot it off the line and it Will drone while the engine screams, but light foot it and it mimics shifts and rides right in the fat part of the torque band... ours had No steering feel at all and seating was tall, so it felt like i was in an suv...overall its never gonna feel like a sports car, but it can be a fun
cruiser..ours was whisper quiet at highway speeds....our mpgs were roughly 35 mpg avg at 60 to 70 mph with a very light foot...

With so many flavours of hybrid cars, two details I would love to hear in reviews:
    1. The range in EV mode, if any
With charging points at home and/or at work, a car with a useable EV only range; the IC engine can be standby for use only on long journeys out of town.
    2. The EV only speeds.

    • Relaxmode
      Relaxmode 19 giorni fa

Toyota's hybrid battery lasts about 2 km-s in the city before IC engine kicks in. It doesn't look like much but charging time is also quite quick (thanks to the size of battery) and soon enough EV mode kicks in again. This review is about hybrid which you can't charge yourself. Not at home, not at work. Only IC engine charges cars battery. This is most common hybrid system used by Toyota. And it works, I have Rav4, and average consumption is 6.8 l/100 km, 100% city driving. Before with CRV average was 11+ l/100 km. For me it's huge difference.
